The lore
Est 2013.
You know where it's headed.
Every cycle invents new slang. One phrase outlived all of it.
Chapter one
Born on Bitcointalk
In late 2013 the Bitcointalk forum was where new coins were born. That winter, Dogecoin showed up with a Shiba and a joke, and right alongside it came a name that said exactly what everyone was already thinking: Mooncoin.
On December 28, 2013, a member called deaconboogie posted the announcement thread: "[ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed!" No premine, a "shenanigan free" launch two days later, and an invitation to "come along for the ride."
Built for the moon
The numbers were the joke.
The original Mooncoin didn't just have a moon in the name. The code was written around it.

Chapter two
The phrase that never left
Coins came and went. Exchanges rose and fell. Entire narratives were born and forgotten inside a single cycle. "To the moon" survived all of it.
It's the most used slang in crypto history, the one thing a 2013 forum regular and a 2026 Solana degen both say without thinking. No lore homework. No explanation needed.
"To the moon." Everyone in crypto, every day since 2013
